Itziar met Sister Clare when she was a child. After the earthquake in Ecuador, although she was distant from the faith at the time, she wanted to join the missionary trip to visit the place where Sister Clare had just died. It was a pivotal moment in her spiritual life. What impressed her most about Sister Clare was her ability to understand each person's needs and to help them discover their importance in God's eyes. She confesses: "I saw her as a friend. She still is my friend, but I keep her as a more spiritual space within me… I value even more having known her and having her in my life."
